Living in Estepona has become a popular choice over the course of the last 20 years. It has always been a stunning town and thanks to the improvement of the road infrastructure, living in Estepona has become an easy option for many families.
Guadalmansa which starts just west of San Pedro, runs into the New Golden Mile, and together have ‘filled the gap’ to Estepona. On the other side of this delightful beachside town is Manilva, Puerto de la Duquesa and then just 15 minutes inland is Casares.
Further west from here and you enter into Cadiz province at Gaudiaro. This lies next to the municipality of San Roque.
Living on The New Golden Mile
The New Golden Mile consists of numerous communities and urbanizations including:
Torre Bermeja, Cabo Bermejo, Las Dunas Park, Emare, Los Granados del Mar, and Los Granados Playa. Menara Beach, El Velerín, Velaya, Los Flamingos, Belaire, Oasis, Cancelada, Atalaya, Selwo, La Resina.
There are a number of excellent golf courses in the area and Marbella is just a short drive away. However most residents and holiday home owners tend to visit Estepona instead.
Living in Estepona
Quaint, traditional and picturesque are excellent ways to describe the old town in Estepona. Many people are attracted by Estepona port, where they can enjoy a drink or a meal with fishing boats as a pleasant backdrop. The port area is a great place for a wander, as is the old town with it’s winding streets laden with flowers.
The outskirts are a little more grown up with modern communities of townhouses, apartments and pool villas.
Living in Manilva and Puerto Duquesa and Sabanillas
The marina of Puerto de la Duquesa was established in 1987 and it put the Manilva area on the map. It is now an established and very popular place for second homes as well as residential living. It is located just a short drive from Estepona and just over half an hour from Gibraltar.
The towns offer uncrowded sandy beaches and a pleasant environment away from much of the coast’s tourism. There is a great selection of public, private and international schools in the Manilva catchment area. These range from kindergarten through to secondary / high school levels.
